  • Emergency Financial Assistance for Holocaust Survivors

    Services include assistance with basic living needs for Holocaust survivors who meet financial criteria and have Claims Conference eligibility.

  • Employment, Career Services and Computer Training

    Services include comprehensive career development and employment programs/supports for adults looking for employment, wanting to change jobs or return to work. Internships are available for older workers to help them get back into the work force. Hands-on computer training to help job seekers update their skills. Rehabilitation and workforce development/community support services are provided for those needing special supports to obtain and maintain employment.

    Services include a variety of supports for survivors.

These include in-home support services, care management, indemnification/restitution, financial assistance, counseling and other services for Holocaust survivors and their families.

  • Day Programs for Adults with Disabilities

    Provides enriching activities for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities to help them stay active and involved in the community. Program utilizes an individualized, person-centered planning model to best meet the interests and needs of each person. Participants determine their own activities, which can occur in a wide variety of community settings, in the facility, and even as part of daily virtual programs for individuals at home who desire vibrant social engagement.

  • Day Programs for Adults Living with Alzheimer’s or Different Forms of Dementia

    Services include therapeutic activities for participants in a warm, safe, and supportive environment. Respite and supports are provided for caregivers in Southfield and West Bloomfield.

    A partnership of Gesher Human Services and Jewish Senior Life, The Dorothy & Peter Brown Jewish Community Adult Day Program offers support groups for individuals caring for older adults; and respite, support groups, and other services for family caregivers of people living with dementia.

    Services include a variety of recreational and social activities, exercise and fitness, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, individualized programs to support cognitive wellness, and much more.

  • Food Assistance for Older Adults

    Kosher Food Pantry at Yad Ezra

    Services include food, holiday packages, toiletries and household cleaning products based on family size. Clients are referred to other agencies for additional support.

  • Mental Health Services for Older Adults

    Services include counseling and other support services for older adults.

    Services include counseling and supports for older adults who need help with personal and/or family issues, life transitions, grief and loss, depression, anxiety, other emotional concerns, domestic violence and/or addiction. In home counseling is available for homebound older adults.

    Gesher Human Services
    Provides a full continuum of residential services for individuals with a mental health diagnosis.

  • Senior Living

    Independent Apartments with Supports:
    Services include market rate and subsidized apartments in Oak Park (Prentis and Teitel Apartments); West Bloomfield (Meer and Hechtman Apartments) with support services, activities and kosher weekday meals.

    Assisted Living and Memory Care:
    Services include Coville Apartments (in Oak Park); Fleischman Residence (home for the aged in West Bloomfield). Care assistance, support services, activities, and 3 kosher meals daily are provided. The Peter & Dorothy Brown Memory Care Pavilion on the 3rd floor of Fleischman Residence provides a specialized environment for those with dementia disorders.

  • In-Home Support Services

    JARC’s Respite program utilizes specially-trained staff to provide families with a much-needed break from caring for their loved one with developmental disabilities. Staff teach skills and work on goals as outlined in the person’s service plan, including participating in community activities.

    Services include individual and group counseling and supports for individuals with mental health challenges or concerns and for their families.

    A youth mental health initiative of the Detroit Jewish community provides educational programming, trainings and funding for additional mental health professionals to support young people and their families.

    Services include programs for teens with special needs. Programs include self expression through the arts, vocational training, social programs, Jewish education, fitness and exercise, life skills development and training, sports, music, outings and matching of volunteers with teens with disabilities to provide friendship to the teens and respite for the family.
